Offline Meetings

Internet Indonesia di tahun 1980an (komentar)

Berikut kutipan komentar dari sebuah video YouTube yang berjudul "PELOPOR INTERNET DI INDONESIA".

• DARPA - ARPAnet merupakan proyek "akademis". Jadi, tidak mungkin merupakan proyek rahasia.
• "Internet" merupakan istilah tahun 1990-an. Jadi, belum digunakan ditahun 1980-an.
• Sebelum ada WWW, sudah ada GOPHER dan FTP.
• AFAIK, yang pertama kali melakukan koneksi Internet ialah BPPT/Ipteknet dengan link X.25. Jadi bukan UI (JL) dan juga bukan ITB (OWP).
• Rasanya, perangkat "UInet" baru dipasang di gedung PUSILKOM Salemba pada tahun 1984 --- yaitu InterLAN NTS10 Terminal Server.
• Koneksi UUnet baru dimulai pada tahun 1986an. Namun, sebelumnya sudah ada koneksi dengan KAIST, Korea.
• Pendiri PUSILKOM UI ialah Dr. Indro S. Suwandi.
• AFAIK, JL setelah tamat, "magang"/"PostDoc" selama setahun di UIUC. Jadi tidak langsung pulang.
• PAU (Pusat Antar Universitas) tidak sama dengan PUSILKOM (Pusat Ilmu Komputer).
• Tanggal 24 Juni 1988 merupakan saat pendaftaran alamat IP (kelas C) 192.41.206/24. Hingga awal 1990an, UI menggunakan koneksi dengan protokol UUCP.
