Windows 10: When Lenovo Yoga 300 is very slow

Sometimes a Lenovo Yoga 300 is very slow when running Windows 10. Here are some tips to try. 

System File Checker (sfc)

Run Windows PowerShell (Admin):

 
sfc /scannow

Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM)

Run Windows PowerShell (Admin):

 
dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

The hypervisorlaunchtype

Try to disable "hypervisorlaunchtype" run Windows PowerShell (Admin):

 
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

Startup Apps

Minimize the Startup Apps.

Performance Option

Adjust for best performance.

Device Manager

DELETE ALL broken devices, then try to update the device drivers. DISABLE the remaining devices.

Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver

It has been reported that there are problems with Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver for Lenovo Yoga 300. You might want to delete it.

VirtualBox (Windows): Call to NEMR0InitVMPart2 failed

After having both updated Windows 10 21H1 and VirtualBox, the Virtual Guests would not boot. The error message was:

Call to NEMR0InitVMPart2 failed:

VERR_NEM_INIT_FAILED (VERR_NEM_VM_CREATE_FAILED).

I am not sure which causes the problem, either the Windows or the VirtualBox. But, the "standard fix" was executing on Admin's Power Shell:

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

Then, reboot!

Debian 11 has been released

Debian 11 has been released. This morning --- while watching YouTube --- I tried to install Debian 11 on VirtualBox. See also Operating Systems Programming For DISS.

Known Quirks (From 10 to 11)

1. Terminal does not paste "newline" (do:  bind 'set enable-bracketed-paste off')
2. Git needs a default pull configuration (do:  git config pull.rebase false)
3. Phyton3 is not recognized (add the python-is-python3 package).

Virtual Guest 2 Core 2G RAM 8G DISK

Berikut merupakan petunjuk untuk membuat "Virtual Guest" Linux 32 bit, 2 core, 2 GB RAM, serta 8 GB disk. "Virtual Host" menjalankan program Virtual Box pada  sebuah PC berbasis Windows 8.1. Diasumsikan, bahwa prosesor host sekurangnya 2 core, RAM sekurangnya 4 GB, serta sekurangnya ada sisa 16 GB disk.

Setelah menekan "NEW", Virtual Guest diberi nama "vguest32-228", berbasis Linux 32 bit.

Ukuran RAM 2048 MB.

Ukuran disk virtual = 8 GB.

Jenis berkas disk virtual: VDI.

Alokasi dinamis menyebabkan berkas disk virtual kecil saat isi disk sedikit.

Ukuran disk 8 GB. Langkah selanjutnya "Create"

"Setting" digunakan untuk modifikasi parameter virtual guest.

Berkas ubuntu ISO minimum (mini.iso 14.04) dapat diunduh di http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso dst.

Ubuntu dan VirtualBox

Jika Ubuntu anda mengeluarkan pesan serupa:

VirtualBox kernel modules [...]
No suitable module for running kernel found.

Pertama-tama, download paket deb yang sesuai langsung dari https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads

Sambil menunggu download, silakan hapus segala paket virtualbox lama:

 
sudo apt-get purge virtualbox virtualbox-dkms virtualbox-ose virtualbox-ose-dkms

Selanjutnya, silakan install paket-paket berikut:

 
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` dkms build-essential

Terakhir, silakan install paket virtualbox hasil download:

 
sudo dpkg -i <paket-virtualbox.deb>

VirtualBox anda akan berfungsi kembali.  Ada kemungkinan anda perlu mengupdate berkar " VirtualBox Extension Pack" anda.

VBOXNET0 Pada Ubuntu

Network adapter vboxnet0 diperlukan jika kita ingin mengakses sistem tamu (guest) yang dijalankan diatas "virtualbox" dari sistem induk (host).

Pada distro UBUNTU, adapter tersebut tidak diaktifkan. Untuk mengaktifkan adapter vboxnet0, silakan menjalankan VirtualBox Manager; "File --> Preferences --> Network". Lalu pada "Host only Network", tinggal memilih vboxnet0. Alamat IP dari induk ialah 192.168.56.1

Untuk "You Know What"/ Windows; default alamat IP induk ialah 192.168.113.1. Agar serupa/ kompatibel dengan GNU/ Linux, yang disebut sebagai "VirtualBox Host-Only Adapter", sebaiknya diganti menjadi 192.168.56.1.
