Linux Digital XCLOCK

The standard X11 clock for GNU/Linux is "xclock". On Ubuntu or Debian, the deb package name is "x11-apps."

To launch the xclock, just run:

 
xclock

To launch a digital xclock, just run:

 
xclock -digital

To enlarge the font size of the digital xclock, just run:

 
xclock -digital -update 1 -face 'arial black-36:bold' -geom 800x77

Reset GRUB/UBUNTU setelah install WINDOWS

Kalau meng-install MS Windows pada sistem yang ada Ubuntu GNU/Linux, maka loader (GRUB) mungkin akan tertimpa. Untuk pengembalian seperti semula, perlu dilakukan langkah-langkah berikut:

a) Boot dari LiveCD/Installer UBUNTU
b) Mount sistem berkas (root file system) ke /mnt. Umpama, root file system ialah /dev/sda5:
c) Mounting devices lainnya:
d) CHROOT ke /mnt
e) Update konfigurasi GRUB:
f) Install GRUB

sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt/
for ii in /dev /dev/pts /proc /sys;
  do sudo mount -B $ii /mnt$ii/; done
sudo chroot /mnt/
sudo update-grub
sudo grub-install /dev/sda

Windows Update: Lama Sekale?!

Pertama-tama, saya ini  pengguna MS Windows dengan lisensi, lho! Karena itu, dengan leluasa dapat melakukan "Windows Update!". Kedua-dua, saya semakin jarang menggunakan MS Windows. Justru, lebih sering melakukan "Windows Update" dan "Antivirus Update", dari pada menggunakan untuk hal lain yang lebih produktif. Ketiga-tiga, saya sering bertanya-tanya, mengapa "Windows Update" itu lama sekale?! Apakah si Bill Gates et. al. nggak pernah denger istilah:

apt-get update; apt-get upgrade -y;

Cape deh!
