Dari Ubuntu, Kembali Ke Kubuntu...

Setelah mengalami beberapa hal yang tidak menyenyangkan dengan Ubuntu, akhirnya memutuskan untuk kembali ke Kubuntu! Berikut, merupakan catatan pribadi perihal beberapa langkah tambahan setelah install.

Resize Konsole: 80x25 Monospace 15pt.
Setup password "root".
Restore "/extra", "/home", "/usr/local/bin/", "/root".
Restore user "rms46"
Setup IP Static address "152.118.28.88"
Setup "/etc/wgetrc" (proxy)

Kubuntu 9.10: Karmic Ciamik Wow!

Hm... Sudah beberapa lama ini, kubuntu (dan ubuntu) saya masukkan ke dalam kategori "Hopeless Piece of Sh*t". Di dalam tulisan (1), disebutkan "9.04 as the Epic Fail release and I consider it to be one of the worst distribution releases of all time". Penyebab utama hal ini ialah KDE 4.X yang masih tidak keruan.

Penyebab lainnya ialah, prinsip dari Canonical (produser *buntu) yang mengejar waktu tayang, walau pun produknya bermasalah. Debat panjang lebar dapat diikuti di (2) dan (3). Versi 9.10 atau Karmic Koala ini kelihatannya kembali Ciamic! Setidaknya, ini merupakan kesan pertama mencoba menginstallnya.

Masih ada beberapa masalah laten yang belum dipecahkan, seperti NetworkManager yang masih sulit menerima alamat IP static, serta setting otomatis X11 dengan resolusi layang yang tinggi.
