Muhammad Asad, born Leopold Weiss (1900-1992), was an Austro-Hungarian-born Jew who converted to Islam and worked as a journalist, traveler, writer, linguist, political theorist, and diplomat.
In April 2008, a space in front of the UNO City in the 22nd District of Vienna was named Muhammad-Asad-Platz.

Translation: The journalist, diplomat, and scholar MUHAMMAD ASAD lived in this house (1900-1992). The pioneer of a dialogue between cultures was born as the son of Jewish parents under Leopold Weiss and is one of the most important Muslim authors of his time.
